The Story behind Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee
This oil-on-canvas masterpiece was painted by Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt van Rijn in 1633. The painting depicts a biblical story of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee and in fact its Rembrandt's only seascape. The painting used to be in the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum but it was stolen in 1990 by two thieves disguised as police officers and its whereabouts still remain unknown. Along with the Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee, 12 other works of art were stolen in the theft, which is considered to be the biggest art theft in the U.S. history.

The Story behind Abraham Mignon - Flowers in a Metal Vase
Throughout his short career Mignon painted various still-life subjects, but he is best known for his lush compositions of flowers and fruits. He developed a style of precise detail of painting and drawing, as you can see in this painting with various well-detailed flowers and insects. Mignon's compositions got enormous following and many collectors wanted them eagerly in the seventeenth and eighteenth century, including Louis XIV of France.

The Story behind Rembrandt - Night Watch
This Dutch Golden era oil-on-canvas masterpiece is the most famous work of Rembrandt. Located in Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, it depicts a group of 18th century civic guard militia men. Unusual in this painting, is the way the group is portrayed, not in a neat row but in a middle of action. The painting is also known as "Militia Company of District II under the Command of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq". The paintings colossal size, up to three meters (143 in) up in height and over four meters (172 in) in width, allows precise detail in the painting.
